One of our rangers approached a group that was slow with some meaningful suggestions. It was not “speed up asshole”, instead it was smart ways to utlilize use of the golf cart. They were not terrible players, they clearly have played a lot of golf…. just masters of inefficeincy.
Solutions such as these were offered:
- Park at back of green, so next group can play in as you are walking off
- Drop cart partner off at his ball, and drive alone to yours
- After you hit shot, start walking forward to be picked up
- Players within 50 yards of green, can walk up with their putter / wedge
- If you are playing with walkers, tack ahead and help the search process while they walk up
The only reason you are hearing about this, is because it did not go well. This group needed many tips, but you guessed it…they didn’t want a single one. It’s always a tell tale sign when the disgruntled come in asking for the manager. I handle situations like this poorly. Being told I suck, when I’m clearly trying to help, never brought out the best in me. We are trying to make these people smarter golfers. Everyone playing behind them for the rest of eternity wants me to make them smarter golfers. Didn’t seem right to pretend that wasn’t our intention.
No matter how beautiful the day was, how great the course was… apparently we are not allowed to approach customers while they are playing. And apparrently I’m supposed to discipline employees who make suggestions. It’s getting to the point where everything triggers people.
Are you being efficient with the golf cart?
